Where do I get BOINC support?
That’s probably a question everyone is going to ask when using BOINC. And here is the ultimate answer to this. A list of several sources where you can find some advice regarding BOINC. But please have in mind that BOINC is only a framework for distributed computing and you always have to attach to a project that does the actual scientific work.

you have to install skype on your PC but you don’t need a microphone or headset to communicate

You can use ircatwork.com, any other IRC client or an IRC java-applet. You can also use the ChatZilla plugin for Firefox.

I have been running BOINC successfully for 2 or 3 years. I was notified that I should upgrade to BOINC 6.10.18 64-bit. I downloaded the upgrade without any problem, but when I try to install it I receive the message:
“The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”. The message indicates that the installation package cannot find BOINC.msi. BOINC.msi is NOT included in the download. I did find an instance of BOINC.msi in an old folder and pointed the installer to that file, but that did not help.
I have been running BOINC on Windows Vista Home Premiun 64-bit and BOINC was working very well. I do connect my system to the internet through a router but there is no actual local network involved.
Unfortunately, the attempted install had destroyed my previous version of BOINC so I can not run BOINC at all at this time
If you will send me your email address, I can sent you an image of the actual error message.
Can you help?
Thanks,
